Bartender John Lermayer, who mixes things up in The Florida Room at The Delano, is a whiskey-loving standout who snagged first place in the Bar Chef Challenge at 2008’s Tales of the Cocktail (mixologists’ booze-sodden answer to the Olympics). Top mixologists from Beijing to the Big Easy are drawing thirsty crowds — and giving new cachet to hotels.


 
Ladies only: Hotels cater to female guests

Seven rooms of this 125-studio hotel in New York's Times Square are reserved just for ladies. Rooms come with a host of amenities including a loofah and bath salts, a hair flat iron, a curling iron, women's magazines, a yoga mat and access to the private (and co-ed) lounge where complimentary breakfast is served. Luxury hotels have begun meeting demands from female travelers requesting better makeup lighting, diet-friendly cuisine and flat irons.
